Together we have reached the destination!

We are very pleased to share that our young Entrepreneurs donated all of the earned amount generously to Children Cancer Hospital on the occasion of International Children Cancer Day on February 15, 2012.

Students of Class VI visited the hospital and spent time with the patients to show support to the victims of cancer and their families. The hospital organised to celebrate a day of hope as “Umeed Ke Diye Jalao”.  Our keen student representatives brought various beautiful gifts and bouquets to present to the young patients. This kind act of them brought smiles on the innocent faces. Pupils also had short discussions with the children who had successfully defeated Cancer and were cured after continued effective treatment; they are now leading healthy lives. The day ended with lighting up the lamps as a symbol of hope and pledge to fight against Cancer.

Overall, it was a real life learning experience for the students to develop the traits of caring and sharing to show love and harmony with the community and humanity.

Happy FISHING to ALL

Now the enterprise challenge is over but learning seems as it has just taken a start!…. Students have worked hard throughout and their vision was to serve humanity and to learn to fish. They indeed learned a real life skill and with this they acquired many more skills further.

Students had this unique enterprise experience for the very first time in school. They not only participated in this challenge but also covered various subject areas as part of curriculum objectives. It was really an outstanding hand-on activity in which students were involved practically.

Students enjoyed many activities like cooking, presenting and decorating the products, drawing and painting posters for advertisements, executed campaigns, took surveys, prepared slideshows etc. Our big achievement was to earn for a noble cause and serve humanity. The element of fun and learning was definitely there but the feeling to show care, love and harmony to underprivileged children motivated them to work for social services. As a part of education, they learnt the skills which worked beyond our imagination and left a positive impact on their minds.

Problems always come when you start any work but a problem doesn’t persist when solutions arise along with it. A number of things were concerned in setting up a school based enterprise, but duties were assigned to look after each and every area critically. Initially, while selling the products few differences were caught by the students for which they themselves pointed out the areas where mistakes were made. Simultaneously dealing with tokens and the money confused them but under the supervision of teachers, they were able to tackle it brilliantly. They also found fake money which made them more vigilant to deal with. now with all the profit collected we are ready to serve the underprivileged and it will be soon donated to Children’s Cancer Hospital. But this is not it, we will keep this up further because we have learned it and we do realize  that how important it is to serve those who need us.

We are proud of our school enterprise, its goals and the achievement of those goals.

Happy FISHING to ALL ;-)

Keep teaching the youth to fish :-)

Eid Mubarak to All!

Eid al-Adha or “Festival of Sacrifice” or “Greater Eid” is an important day, celebrated by Muslims worldwide to commemorate the willingness of the Prophet Abraham (Ibrahim) (Peace be upon him)to sacrifice his son Ishmael (Isma’il) (Peace be upon him) as an act of obedience to God, before God intervened to provide him with a sheep— to sacrifice instead.

Celebrating Global Dignity Day

We are one!

We are one!

20 October 2011 is Global Dignity Day. This day is a global demonstration of the inspirational and inclusive power of dignity with events taking place in over 50 countries around the world.

Global Dignity Day was celebrated in our school today. Teachers spoke to the children about global dignity in the classes and students shared their thoughts about respecting all cultures, religions and races. There was an awareness campaign for respecting HUMANS globally. Children of class V picked the flowers grown by the school gardener and presented those to him as a token of gratitude for his hard work; children told  him that how much we value him and it brought a very visible GRIN on his face . . . . . . .  YES! we felt the sense of achievement and celebrated the moment with smiles. We all have the ability to increase the dignity of others and thus we increase our own dignity.

watch the short video below

Background information:

Global Dignity originated in Norway in 2006 and began as a powerful idea, inspired by concerned global citizens and members of the Forum of Young Global Leaders. The three co-founders are His Royal Highness Crown Prince Haakon of Norway, Professor Pekka Himanen of Finland and John Hope Bryant of the United States of America.  The founders have worked with many other Young Global Leaders from around the world hosting ‘Dignity Days’ in local communities, schools, and teaching ‘A course in Dignity’ to young people.  They came to the conclusion that in this world, which is divided by religion, race, cultural boundaries and political ideologies, the importance of dignity is something everyone can agree on, irrespective of our differences.  The mission of Global Dignity is to implement the universal right of every human being to lead a dignified life. We all have the ability to increase the dignity of others and thereby we increase our own dignity. Dignity resides in each of us, despite the obstacles we face.

Keep it UP :-)

Well done classes VI-A, IV-B and III-C for securing top positions in the hall of fame during practice session. KEEP IT UP! :-)

Other levels can also show same progress by playing more in school and at home.

What have we EARNED ?

Wow ! this graph can help me see what can not be seen in real.

Earned Profit is in Rupees (Pakistan's Currency)

Wow ! this graph can help me see what can not be seen in real.

This is the first graphical report of the earned profit  by the enterprise after deduction of the expense. This report is made with the data collected on daily basis by the entrepreneurs on the provided daily income audit form. Before starting the business we had high expectation for profit but we have learned that there are many factors including WEATHER :-( which can affect the sale of edibles.

Entrepreneurs will share their views through replies; for the fluctuations in the earned amount and their proposals for improvement of the business in the days ahead :-) .
